Between 46% & 50% of the residents of Maine, Vermont, & New Hampshire own a gun.
And the violent crime rate in those 3 states is between 123 & 188 per 100,000 people.
In Rhode Island, the violent crime rate is 247 per 100,00 while gun ownership is just 14%.
In Connecticut, the violent crime rate is 272 per 100,000 while gun ownership is only 19%.
In Massachusetts, the violent crime rate is 428 per 100,000 while gun ownerships hovers at 10%.
