For all of the budding socialists out there who long for all of the free stuff offered by the welfare state, please realize that all of that free stuff will cost you ~40% of your salary via the income tax, plus another ~20% via the Value Added Tax.

Right now, Americans get to keep ~70% of their money as disposable income. But once everything becomes "free" you are only going to have ~40% of your money as disposable income.
