Here in 2026 Americans have finally found an issue that unites them as Americans, regardless of political affiliations: opposition to AI data centers being rapidly built in their communities with little to no oversight, as the AI bubble continues to inflate. According to a recent Gallup poll, 71% of Americans oppose AI data centers near their homes, triggering a wave of legislation that has already stalled $130B in projects. Donald Trump has attacked these Americans who make up over 70% of the country, stating that "The only reason that communities throughout the U.S.A. should not want Data Centers is if they want to end up being backwards and poor."
