Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian have been confirmed dead after their helicopter crashed in Iran's East Azerbaijan province. The accident happened due to foggy weather. The helicopter crashed on the way back after Raisi inaugurated a dam on the Aras River on the border with Azerbaijan. Rescue teams have been sent to the scene, but the area is difficult to access and search and rescue operations are taking time due to thick fog.

Three Americans are accused of being involved in a failed coup attempt in Congo that left multiple people dead.
