From 1910 - 1970, ~6 million Black Americans left southern states for northern states. 30+ thousand went to Pittsburgh. 100+ thousand went to Detroit. 500+ thousand went to Chicago. But why did any of them remain within the USA, with its Systemic Racism & White Supremacism? If they were going to move a thousand miles, why not go all the way, & continue on to Liberia, which was an independent Black ruled country since 1847? Why didn’t they go to the island paradise of Haiti, which was an independent Black ruled country since 1804? Why didn’t they go to Ethiopia, the only Black African nation that had never been a European colony? Was it because staying in America was still the best option available to them?
