Up until 1973, homosexuality itself was considered a psychiatric diagnosis. But Gay Activists had disrupted the annual convention of the American Psychiatric Association in 1971 & '72, & were threatening to do so in perpetuity unless the APA dropped homosexuality from their diagnostic codes. Thus the APA gave into their demands, & homosexuality is no longer considered a psychological disorder.
