Muhammad said “Who is willing to kill Kab bin al-Ashraf, who has insulted Allah?” Thereupon Maslama asked “Would you like me to kill him?” Muhammad then said “Yes.” Maslama then said “Let me lie to him.” Muhammad replied “You may lie in order to deceive him.” So they killed him and then went to Muhammad to inform him of the murder of Kab bin al-Ashraf.
