I saw something on a news show 50+ years ago. Maybe it was 60 Minutes? It involved a group of women who had left their husbands for another woman. They were Lesbians who had lost custody of their children. And they thought that it was discriminatory.

Their complaint was that women who were alcoholics, had spent time in a psych facility, were drug addicts, prostitutes or convicted felons did not lose custody of their children.

Why is the question: Why don't Lesbians get custody of the kids? Why isn't it: Why doesn't Dad get custody of the kids when Mom is an alcoholic, drug addict, prostitute, on mental meds, or convicted felon?

Why does Mom automatically get custody of the kids? Why is Dad automatically assumed to be the one with poorer parenting skills?
