Who ultimately decides how the executive branch works? Is it the president, elected by the American people, or career federal employees and the unions that represent them?

The American Federation of Government Employees, the largest union representing federal employees, sued the White House’s Office of Personnel Management last month, aiming to block new rules governing how federal employees are evaluated, disciplined, and removed.

The lawsuit represents only the latest in a long series of legal challenges the union has brought against President Donald Trump’s administration since January 2025. According to a July roundup AFGE posted on its website, the union had filed 18 lawsuits against the administration before the latest case.

Local governments in the U.S. are switching off Flock AI cameras amid serious privacy and mass surveillance concerns.

The high-speed automated license plate readers developed by Flock Safety are designed to help police find stolen vehicles and locate suspects by logging plates, times, and locations.

However, the surveillance network—which now maps over 122,000 active cameras nationwide—is facing a significant grassroots revolt. According to data from the anti-surveillance group DeFlock, 95 U.S. jurisdictions have rejected proposed installations, while dozens more have canceled contracts or deactivated operational cameras.

Concerns range from the erosion of public trust to fears that private vehicle data could be accessed by federal agencies. Additionally, police officers in dozens of U.S. states have been accused of — and in some cases, even terminated for — using the cameras to stalk partners and exes.

DOVER PORT BLOCKADED AS MASKED PROTESTERS BRING TRAFFIC TO A STANDSTILL

Masked protesters demonstrating against Channel migrant crossings have blocked roads leading to the Port of Dover, causing major disruption for travellers and ferry passengers.

Queues stretched for miles, with passengers warned they could miss their ferries as access to the port was disrupted. Kent Police say they are responding to the public-order incident.

The protesters were reportedly chanting “Stop the boats” and “Send them back”.

  • Will Supreme Court Ruling Make It Harder for Noncitizens to Vote?
    https://www.dailysignal.com/2026/08/25/will-supreme-court-ruling-make-it-harder-for-noncitizens-to-vote/
The Supreme Court’s Monday decision cleared the way for the Department of Homeland Security to establish a state-by-state list of eligible voters based on a crosscheck of citizenship data, the Social Security database, and other government information.

“The DHS can determine who is eligible to vote because the federal government does not want to be complicit in fraud through sending mail-in ballots to noncitizens,” Jason Snead, executive director of the Honest Elections Project, told the Daily Signal. “So it makes sense as to why the administration would want to prioritize this.”

The list would be shared with states, but states are not obligated to use the list to police voter rolls.
